Mistake

"People will forgive mistakes, because mistakes are usually of the mind, mistakes of judgment. But people will not easily forgive mistakes of the heart, the ill intention, the bad motives, the prideful justifying cover-up of the first mistake"

Copied from book "7 Habits of highly effective people" authored by Stephan R. Covey.

Talking stick - Very nice concept

Communicating thoughts and ideas can be a problem. Others may disagree with you and have suggestions of their own that they wish to eagerly air. The Native Americans had a remedy for this by using a talking stick.

Here’s how the talking stick is used:
Bob hands the talking stick to Sasha. Sasha shares her point and perspective. When she feels Bob has heard and understands what she has said, she will hand the talking stick to Bob (and not until). Bob will not interject his opinions or point of view until he is holding the stick. This goes on until both/all parties have said what they need to say and feel heard.

The whole idea behind is it that you always let the other person who has the talking stick be the speaker, until they feel understood. What happens is that they express their point and their feeling as strongly as they wish. And the other only seeks to understand and restate it to their satisfaction. As soon as they achieve that, then the talking stick is passed to the other person. Then they have the same privilege. And the other person listens to understand. As this goes back and forth, the whole energy changes from being defensive and negative into becoming creative and synergistic, meaning everyone benefits more.

The Indian Talking Stick produces bonding and 3rd alternatives (a new idea, not yours, not mine, but a third alternative).

And finally I got it ..

And finally today I got "the three mistakes of my life" book of Chetan Bhagat. It was launched on on 8th May. But surprisingly it was neither available in Crossword nor in Sapna bookstore which is said to be India's largest bookstore. I was knowing that is going to be released on 8th so I went to inquire about the it on 10th (saturday). But it was not available till 10th in any of the bookstore in Bangalore. Than I did not get time to inquire about it during weekdays and finally today I bought it from Sapna bookstore. Hurray !!!

Most amazing thing about this book is, its price. Do you believe its 95 rupee only. Yes, 95. In this era. And number of pages are around 220! Do not doubt about paper quality also. Paper quality is also very good. What other reasons are you finding to read this book. I bet you, it will be total fun reading it.

His first 2 books, One night at call centre and five point someone, were sold out like anything. Particularly it was very famous amongst youngsters. Book became very famous and so how can Bollywood remain away from getting advantage of it. On both this book Bollywood movies are going to be made. Yes, on both of these books. Movie names 'Hello' will be based on 'One night at call centre' and other movie whose name is not yet finalized will be based on 'Five point someone'. 'Hello' is going to be directed by Atul Agnihotri and other movie will be directed by 'Munnabhai' fame Rajkumar Hirani.

Unable to recall more books.

My own personnel repsonse:

1) Yoga the science of living - By Osho.
Abstraction level of mentioned thoughts are high. Difficult to understand without giving additional thoughts to book. When understood, Aha! kind of experience comes. Thoughts presented in books hits a root of problems.

2) 8th habit -By Stephen R. covey.
Not better than 7 habits. Book is not as generic as 7 habits. 7 Habits covers personnel, family, social and business related aspects. While this book covers more of a professional aspects.

3) One day -By Ardashir Vakil.
Not recommended to read. A book is about a day which is birthday of couple's one and only son. It describes events that takes place in life before, on and after birthday of their son. Book is not written in a way to keep your interest alive. I felt bored after reading 40% of a book.

4) 7 Habits of highly effective people -By Stephen R. covey.
An excellent book. This book has literally made a significant change in my life. MUST READ. Currently I am reading this book 2nd time.

5) Like the flowing river -By Paulo Coelho.
Good to read when you feels that you will not be able to read book which describes things in continuation.

6) Living the 7 habit -By Stephen R. covey.
Good to read. Book is about how people had implemented 7 Habits in their personnel, professsional life. This book gives you a courage. It will not allow you to feel alone. You will come to know about people's problems and how they have resolved it with implementation of 7 habit.

7) Looking for the BigB - Jessica Hines.
Book is about a lady from London who had made his mind to write a book about super star Amitabh Bachchan. It describes BibB's character. I found Language used tough and probably that is why it not interesting book. I had bought this book because I wanted to read a biography of at least one of my heroes. (Some of my heroes are Sachin Tendlker, A.R. Rahman, Shanker Ehsaan Loy)

8) Wings of fire -By Arun Tiwari.
No need to say that book is autobiography of APJ Kalam. I have still not read it fully. Book seems somewhat boring because of used technical terminology. Otherwise book is good.

9) Joker in the pack -By Shrma & Pahaljani.
Excellent.
Book is about author's journey from school-Engineering study-IIMB study-job. Must read for alll Chetan Bhagat's fans.

10) Boy and going solo -By Roald Dahl.
Very much boring book. I was not able to read even 2-3 pages of this books. My 250 Bugs got wasted.

11) Teach yourself Unix -By Kevin Reichard & Eric E. Johnson.
Some of the commands mentioned are very useful.
For example, to fire a command at perticular time you can use 'at' command.

12) Who moved my cheese -By Dr. Spencer johnson.
Book describes a root cause of our daily peoblem in a story. Good thing about book is, it very very short and easily available at roadside.

13) Paulo Coelho confession of a pilgrim - By Juan Arias.
Not yet opened. Just bought it 3-4days back. I know one thing, book is autobiography of Paulo Coelho. Planning to read it after finishing 'Yoga science of living' book.

14) તમારા મન ની શકિતઓ - By Jitendra Adhia.
Not able to recall anything from this book. One thing I can say is, it is very very short. So for those who wants to re-start nurturing reading habit but is not able to do it because of the size of the books, go for this one first. Finish it and re-gain a confidence that you still can read and finish.

15) The famous five - By Enid Blyton.
Book is about 5 people. 3 boys and 2 girls. It describes about an adventures of these guys. Book can be put in 'Not bad' category. Good thing about book is the way all conversations are described are very much logical. For example, in one story these guys were solving one mystery. So step by step they thought what can be possible and what can not be. While discussing one guy will put forward his opinion and other guys will agree or disagree with him logically and agreeably. Book is devided in three story. First is, 'Mystery Moor'. Second is, 'five has a lots of fun', And third I am not able to recall.

Words of OSHO

"To be angry sometimes is not bad, but to suppress anger and to remain angry constantly is very dangerous. That is a difference between hatred and hate. When you flare up in anger, there is hate, but it is momentary. It comes and it goes. Nothing much to be worried about it. When you suppress anger, then hate disappears and hatred arises, which becomes a permanent style of your life. The repressed ager continuously affects you -your behavior, your relationship. Now it is not you sometimes become angry. Now you are all the time angry. Your anger is not addressed to anybody now; it has become unaddressed, just a quality of your being. Now it clings to you. You can not say exactly with whom you are angry, because in the past you have been accumulating anger. Not it has become a reservoir. You are simply angry."

While reading a book "Yoga the science of living" by Osho, I came across above words.

Books on collage life

Did you like books from Chetan Bhagat. Wanna read similar kinds of books? Ok below is the list of similar type of books including Books of Chetan Bhagat.

1) Five point someone - Chetan Bhagat
2) One night at call centre - Chetan Bhagat
3) Above average - Amitabh Bagachi
4) Anything for you ma'am - Tushar Raheja
5) Jocker in a pack - Neeraj Pahlajani & Ritesh Sharma

Let me give my personnel opinion as well on all of these books. Please consider this opinion as my personnel response. Response is how I had felt while reading a book. As every person in world is unique so is his opinion. So it should not be surprising if my response differs from you.

1) Five point someone:
This is a book on collage life of three friends. Punchline of book is "what not to do at IIT". And that is very much justified throught this book. Even though book's story does not seem real, it is neither an unreal. Good thing about book is, you will find some character which resembles you. It is total fun reading this book.
Must read for all collegians.

2) One night at call centre:
This is second book from Chetan Bhagat. Better than Five point someone. Reason is, this book seems more real than five point someone. A movie is also going to be released based on this book. Movie name is Hello and director is Atul agnihotri. You can check out more here.
Book is about 6 people, 3 boys and 3 girls. All 6 people has different characteristcis. And the way Chetan has described these characteristics is very good. You will clearly be able picturize all 6 character. Typically what happens is, people does not read book in one go. We reads it as and when we gets mood of reading. So you will forget character's name, his characteristics, his place in a relation with others. And so you looses your interest in book. At one time in a book author will introduce character, its hobies, interests, relationship with someone, its designation, its age and all. Now whenever author writes about this character picture should come in your mind that who is he, what and all he has done till now in this story, what are his interests etc... If this picture does not become clear in your mind, you will not feel like reading book from that point onwards. So generally, authors keeps as less number of character in his story as possible. 6 character is not a little figure to maintain for average authors and Chetan is not among average authors. Chetan has managed this in excellent way. Chetan has managed all 6 charcters in good manner. Full marks to him. Best part is, it has a small spiritual message as well.
Generally, authors keeps as less number of character in his story as possible so that reader can picturize all characters easily. 6 character is not a little figure to maintain for average authors and Chetan is not among average authors.

3) Above average:
First of all let me tell you one thing. From this book only I have got an idea about my punch line "Not the best, but no doubt an above average". On initial some of the pages author has written similar kind of statement. Author has mentioned
“I might not be good looking but I am definitely above average”.
In this book author describes his life from school to IIT to his job. At no point book seemed as an unreal or say filmy. Story looks very much real and practical. Bad point is, English used in this book is not much good. It has very lengthy statements difficult to understand.
Author describes one incident in this book. Let me put it here. A guy was imaging about his GF. He calls his GF and tells her about his imagination. Guy's imagination was about rainy day and she getting completely wet in rain. When he tells aout all this thing to her GF, her GF tells, "Think about it more deeply. Its not about me, its about an image you have created of me"
His GF replies, "Think about it more deeply. Its not about me, its about an image you have created of me"

4) Anything for you ma'am:
This book is total filmy. From this book a super duper hit movie can be made. But movie can be hit only if SRK is hero. If you ask me to rate all books mentioned on collage like, this will come last. Title of the book says that, "An IITians love story". But book is not about full love story, it is about a part of love story. All 250 is just about how author has managed to meet his GF. Title ("An IITians love story") of the book builds many expectations which is not met inside the book. Best part of the book is, author's date with his GF. The way he has described moments of this date is very very good.
Must read book for all SRK fans and all girls.

5) Joker in the pack:
As good as Chetan's books. 80% of the book I have read till now and I found it very good. Book is about author's journey from school-Engineering study-IIMB study-job. Best thing about book is, it keeps you light throughout. Story is about middle class boy's journey. The way author has described every incident and every character is very good. Author oftenly relates many thing with cricket. Story seems realistic. Must read for alll Chetan Bhagat's fan. In fact on one aspect this book is better than Chetan's book and that is reality of the story.
Must read for alll Chetan Bhagat's fan
