Busy like a bee

Now-a-days I'm busy like a bee. Have thought of many topics to be blogged and shared. But not getting enough time to blog it the way I want. But its not gonna last long. I will find some way out and will become regular again on my blog. Till than, wait and watch ..

"તપેલી"?? કે "ઠરેલી"?

My love ...

... Bangalore weather.

Since last few weeks I was planning post this blog on my love, Bangalore weather. Not because I was happy with it but because I was NOT happy with it. It was hot here since last 2-3 weeks. Yes dear, I am writing about Bangalore only so without re-reading back, read ahead. Everyday I was thinking, "Yaar this is not typical Bengalooru weather, at least it was not like this before some 2 years, I will blog about this". etc etc

As very well said, "tough time never lasts, tough people do". This tough time of facing hot bangalooru did not last long for me (a tough guy :-)) because since last 3-4 days it is raining here !! Rain has made weather over her quite quite good. Well, rain may be coming for sure in each and every part of country. But Bengalooru rain is a bit different. Rain over here is like "your girlfriend pampering you". While in other parts like Ahmedabad it is like "your khalli-equivalent friend is beating you ramdomly".

Today also it rained here and so from my unability to resist myself from blogging, this post emerged :-). But please don't start thinking that life in Bangalore in very cool when it rains.you will have to pay the price for rain -power cut !! Yes, power cut and that is too in Bengalooru. So called IT hub or silicon valley or what not of India. This is as much unbelievable as much it is to believe that it is hot here in Bangalore. At lest regarding power cut I hate bengalooru. Reason is quite obvious because I have stayed at place who has a record of having least number of hours of down time in a year-Ahmedabad.

Anyways, so having said these, its time to get back to enjoy weather again. Ok see ya. Bbye. Have a nice life ahead.

sinØ, cosØ is useless

After 10th standard all of the time I have break my head playing with sinØ cosØ. I am not ashamed of calling them as a useless junks today. It started looking useless to me after this so called recession time has started. After recession time, I am coming across so many economics related terms which are undoubtedly over-height bouncers for me. I don't know where this sinØ, cosØ helps. Who the hell cares weather you are knowing integration or differentiation of sinØ, cosØ?
What looks important to me is,
- weather you are able to calculate your tax deductions at the end of financical year,
- weather you are able to calculate maturity amount of X rupees at compounded interest rate of Y%,
- weather you are knowing for what and all banks are debiting your account,
- weather you are able to calculate 8368 - 7219 is how much instantly.

During collage time itself I am used to use calculator for even smallest of calculation. Calculators were allowed during exams because of very very complex calculations involved. Being specific, it was scientific calculators. Because it includes all those binary, hex, sin, cos , etc etc junks. Now-a-days it really takes conscious efforts when my roommate comes to me and asks "Hey, 4567 is expense for X item. So how much will be per head expense?". Sometimes even I feel that sabjiwalas are doing better calculation than me.

I was used to fight with my brother when we both were studying together our respective subjects and he was reciting his economics or statistics equations loudly. To fight back, I was also used to recite those mugged-up euations of integration and differentiation. Silly I was. If I had listned to those euations and calculations of statistics, things could have been different. He was used to tell me, "when you goto bank for depositing money with cheque, you can not write 'Amount: cosine 0 thousans rupees only'. You have to write 'Amount: one thousand rupees only'. Commercians drives the world.". Today I am convinced, "Money drives the world".

Pay hike

I know, you are surprised even reading this words "pay hike". Now-a-days pay-cuts and lay-offs are more oftenly used words in a day than verbs 'is', 'are', 'was', 'were'. Its time of great depression, economists are saying. Could be. Being an engineer, I don't quite very well understand these terms (commerce stream are guys are best at it ). So I allow my horses of imagination to run beyond boundries of knowledge and present you easy solution to have boom time faster:

Release all prisoner been caught in a case of printing fake money. Overload them. Let them burn the mid-night oils. Generate lots of money. And circulate it in market :-).

How does this solve the problem? Ok, here is an explanation. Problem right now is, we are facing credit crunch. Means no money in market. People are spending less. People have started looking for cheaper alternatives. Earlier people were taking auto, now they are using public transport. Nike & reebok users have started looking for Bata prodcts. In summary, people are spending less and so at the end of the day less money getting circulated in market. How to increase this money circulation? He he .. Simple, release those prisoners ... :-) ?!?!

Okay, so till now I did not talk about so called subject of this post. "Pay hike". Lemme do that. Well, subject is not misspelled, I meant pay hike only. And I want to write about pay hike only. Hmm, so do you know any company who is giving pay hike in this situation?? No? ok so, without letting your mind start guessing, let me give you name of it. Its government job !! Heared about sixth pay commision?? As per that, employees salary has been increased !! In this time of great depression !! Private companies need to learn from it :-). Is not it?

Rock on! By SRK and Karan Johar ..

No no no. Hold on your horses of imagination. Rock on is not getting remade with SRK as a lead actor and Karan Johar as a director. This post is about, "what-if". What if it was made by SRK and Karan Johar (To tell you the truth, I hate  both of them).  LOL !

Copied from Shub's this post.

So, the other day I randomly tweeted this : Thought for the day: If Rock On had been an SRK movie, Luke Kenny would've coughed blood and died right on stage during the final concert.

To which a friend promptly tweeted back saying it could be made into a whole blog post, much along the lines of that old forward - remember that piece titled 'If TZP had been made by Karan Johar etc' that was doing the rounds earlier this year? That one. So this post was born.

I know this will get me murderous looks from two Bollywood fanatics and Karan Johar/SRK fans I know. But they're too nice to kill me for this (Clearly, I think flattery will get me anywhere), so am risking it anyway...but if you don't hear from me after this post, please call the cops. No, seriously.

Presenting ---

If Rock On! had been made by Karan Johar....(Spoilers galore, but I'm assuming everyone's watched the movie by now)

  • SRK would be in Farhan's place (naturally).
  • There will be more focus on the ego clash between him and Arjun Rampal. A mutual love interest will be the focal point of the drama.
  • SRK will get the girl. Arjun Rampal remains heartbroken and single and takes refuge in his music and alcohol.
  • When he refuses to listen to Prachi Desai's idea of getting back together with the band, SRK's Maa will be roped in to persuade him. That works like a charm.
  • Before they go on stage for the final concert, Maa will feed him Mandir ka prashad and say 'ja beta jaa, Bharat ka naam roshan karo' (don't ask). Okay, this isn't just a K-Jo special, applies to all old Hindi movies in general.
  • The 'Tum ho to' song will be dedicated to (no points for guessing) SRK's Maa. Who will promptly proceed to (again no points for guessing) bawl her eyes out.
Climax: At the concert on-stage the last song is on. Mid-way through it, SRK has a coughing fit. There will be blood. From the nose possibly. (That imagery GROSSED me out. Naturally.) Yet, as Maa and wife and the rest of them watch on with their hearts in their mouths, he proceeds to finish the song. Clearly struggling though. Everyone is on their feet screaming his name (Rahul, perhaps?) at the end of the show. He collapses, screaming, 'Maa...!'

*SILENCE* (heartbeat music)

Maa rushes to stage screaming, 'Betaa...!' Followed by slower wife (naturally). Hugs. Tears. SRK wheezing and gasping. Grabs mike. Some more tears. Apologises to Rampal for the past and asks him to *gasp* marry Prachi Desai after his death. 'I love you allThe music *gasp! wheeze!* must go on. WE MUST....WE MUST ROCK ON!' Proceeds to die on stage. V.v.sad chorus version of 'Tum ho to...' plays in the background, fade out.

Titles read: And then Joe (Arjun Rampal) married Sakshi (Prachi Desai) and had a baby later and they named him Rahul (naturally!).

The End.

TP

"What are you doing?", I ask.
Replies comes, "TP" completing it in less than a second.
"TP? What is that?", Quite surpised with one more short form of some unusual thing.
"Time pass", reply comes as if this full form is quite obvious and its shame on me that I don't know that. Like, are ye PSPO nahi janta.

Ok coming to-the-point, I am going to write today about time pass we all do when in fron of PC.  So here I go,

- Click right mouse button and keep on refreshing the screen so many times that you can catch windows BUG of screen not getting refreshed after XYZ times of refreshal.

- Click right mouse button at many diferent places on the screen and validate that right clock works on each and every pixel of screen.

- Click left mouse button and drag the mouse till it comes out of monitor window.

- Keep on doing single-double-triple or whatever number of clicks on few line of code so that is at all BUG is present, it can be killed as early as possible.

- Press escape key multple times when in linux, specifically when using vim editor.

- Scratch your head, as if you are in deep thinking about to launch a missile.

- Highlight things your are reading on screen, most probably an email. Or may be if someone is at your desk for debuggin something, open some design document and start highlighting some line but don't read it. Person who has come to debug will read those lines and explain you what it is.

- Just make mouse cursor move in round and round and round fashion. It gives fun, is not it?

- Press multiple times (5 is minimum) on 'receive' button in Outlook as if 'automatically check for a new mail every one minute' is not working.

- Check who and all is online. And whenever status message comes as available, spread news that so and so person comes in office at so and so time.

- Keep curson on someone's name in gmail's inbuild chat box and look at photo or message or anything at almost regular intervals (interval being greater than interval at which you stand up for water).

- And after I started using Google chrome  as a browser, I found one more thing. Re-order Google Chrome tabs by drag and drop. Did you try it? Its really fun.

Just drag some tab and put it ahywhere.

- I have never thought about it till now.
- I just look on what topic you are blogging. Thats it.
- I don't feel like commenting because topics are not of my interest.
- Once I tried it but I did not understand where to comment and how.
- oh! comment?? how can I do that? And what is that?

Matsushita died, its Panasonic now

Recently Japanese electronics maker Matsushita changed its name to Panasonic. Essentially, Panasonic is a brand name from company Matsushita. But Matsushita's brand has Panasonic became so much popular that company had to change its company name itself to its brand name. Its brand was much more popular than original company. And so Matsushita have changed its name to Panasonic.

Brand becoming much popular than its company is not first time in history. At least, I have seen many brand name itself becoming symbol for whole group of product. Say for example, Honda. Honda name was so popular in earlier days that any 2 wheeler was identified as Honda. Weather that two wheeler is from Bajaj or any other company does not matter. People were used to call it, new Honda from Bajaj. LOL !! Below are few more examples of it.

- Maruti for any four wheeler.
- Colgate for any Toothpaste.
- Casio for any electronic synthesizer.

Because of this many funny conversations happen.

Like,
1) "Hey, i have seen new Maruti today on road. Ummm .. name was something like indica .."

2) "Can you please give 100 Gm pack of Pepsodent Colgate?"
Confused shopkeeper, "Sir, you want Pepsodent or Colgate?"
"I want Colgate -Pepsodent. Do you understand?"

3) "So which casio you bought?"
"I bought Yamaha casio"

Reader's contribution:

Shunty adds,
- iPod for any mp3 player

Soham adds,
- Bisleri for any mineral water
- Xerox for any photo cpoying machine

Hiren adds many many many quite true brand names (Thanks dear). Let me put that in his own words:
1. Dalda - Instead of vegetable oil
people still these days call any vegetable oil as Dalda Ghee.
check (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalda) its history.

2. Hajmola - Its really Dabur Hajmola

3. Cadbury - Highly mistaken especially in kids (few years back) Even when I was a kid and whenever I wanted to eat Dairy-milk or Five-star(brand products from Cadbury India) I used to say "please get me one Cadbury" :)

4. Xerox - Now just recall how many times do we really use copy instead of Xerox? and do we bother whether that copy been made in Xerox or any xyz machine?

5. Navneet - In school days, instead of Digest we(Gujarati) used to tell it as Navneet which was brand from Gala Publications

6. Nirma - Now this was a brand which got huge popular in villages in early 80s and doesn't matter those village women who used to get their favorite 1 k.g. of washing powder at Rs. 3 instead of its original price as Rs.6/- they used to call as Nirma powder only and shopkeeper will also understand their feelings. In fact that was Nima or Nira washing powder(fake Nirma powder).

7. Bajaj - Instead of Bajaj Scooter. (Hamara Bajaj)

8. Maggie - I can still remember when for the first time I ate noodles in restaurant, I told my mom that this Maggie is different than what you prepare at home.

9. Rasna - For any fruit flavor based beverage instead of sarbat people used to call it as Rasna. (Remember that jingle, I love you Rasna)

10. Godrej - For this product it is slightly ulta. People used to call as Godrej locks instead of its brand name as Navtal-5 levers. Same is true for Godrej Cupboards.

11. Yera glasses

This brand, "Yera" was a household name(In Gujarat at least) and was huge popular until 1991 when Globalization really started. It was the best product from Alembic, Baroda and known for their unique and stylish designs. But I have noticed people who call any other glasses as Yera glasses just because shape is similar.

12. Pearlpet bottles/jars - Better known for air-tightness and first of its kind. It was very popular in late 80's and was also known for their bottle/jar designs. After that plastic revolution started but still Pearlpet name is in people's mind.

What happened this weekend ..

I had planned to write some blog this weekend.  But no good thoughts were coming into mind. Written few sentences but my thouhts were pushing me againg and again to write bad/discouraging/emotional/sad kind of post :-<. So at last I thought not to publish any post and as a result of it, this post :-).

It was more than 10 when I counted

Yeah, i was bitten by in total more than 10 Leeches ! Yes leeches. And more than 10. You may be wondering from where leech bitten this guy? Actually few weeks before we had gone for trekking to place called Kodachadri. And from there these leeches bit me.

Frankly speaking, I had not counted how many leeches byte me until recently it started itching. As it started itching I went to chemist and bought soframycin and band-aid. I approximated leech bytes to max 5. So I purchased only 5 band-aids. But when I came to home and started putting band-aids on leech byte, I realised that more than 10 leeches has bitten me !! Oh my god !!!

Today if you ask me what was the most difficult part of trekking than I will promptly answer : leeches, leeches & leeches nothing else.

Waiting for those wounds to get healed. :-( .....

Bucket list

In free time I was surfing and running through blogs of note. On one of the blog I found interesting column named "Bucket list". Where blogger had listed things which he wants to in future. Kind of things-to-do-before-I-die list. I liked it much.

I'm gonna do that someday. How about you?

BTW, below is Heather Petri's Bucket list:

  • Swim with dolphins.
  • Surf enough to feel comfortable riding a wave bigger than my coffee table.
  • Coach a high school water polo team.
  • Hike to Machu Picchu, Peru
  • Ride a camel to see The Pyramids and The Sphinx.
  • Go in a hot air balloon.
  • Roadtrip all over America.
  • Work on a ranch with horses.
  • Travel to Thailand, Tibet, and Africa.
  • Visit a glacier before they all melt.
  • Learn to SCUBA dive and then explore the reefs of the South Pacific.
  • Skydive in a place where I can see the ocean and mountains at the same time.
  • Lay on the ground in front of the Taj Mahal and stare at it for a while.

Would you ever?

Would you ever quit blogging or delete your blog at some point of time in the future?

Do you also do this?

While reading someone's blog, I picturise that buddy in my mind's eyes. Do you also do this? When you read someone else blog, do you create picture of that person mentally?

Crazy idea - Left handed day

I'm planning to celebrate at least one of my life's day as left handed day. Will this not be a fun? Just try doing some of the routine things with left hand. Like, brushing a teeth, opening and closing of lock, carrying a bag on left shoulder, shake hand with your left hand (:->), drink water carrying a bottle in left hand, write down thoughts in personnel diary having pen in left hand, talk on cell phone !!! !!! !!!

With this also let me tell you more on lefties. Actually left handers are minority in our world. Almost all the things are right handed oriented. Not almost all but say all. Most uncomfortable thing for lefties would be, screw bolt. Threads on screw bolt is been made considering comfortableness of right handers. So first time when a lefty tries to open any screw bolt with his left hand, it gets closed more tightly! And if he tries to close it, it gets open!!

Take a musical instrument. Say Guitar. If tutor is right handed, it will be might mare for lefty to learn guitar. Neither student will be able to understand and play whatever tutor teaches nor tutor will be able to correct the student.

Ever seen any lefty writing in a book? They will keep book almost at more than 90 degree. Like this.

In bench of three if one lefty is seating on right hand side, bench of three has to be made bench of two. So it was unwritten rule in my collage and school to make lefty seat on left end of bench, for other students sake.

Do you know:
<-- Left handers, by nature, feels comfortable with anticlockwise rotating clock.
<-- Amitabh Bachchan is left handed.
<--Lefties are not permitted to play Polo(played on horses).

As far as I know, left handed persons are always near to best or best. Here when i say left handed i mean, full left handed not semi left handed. There are also a person who throws the ball with right hand, bats with left and again bowls with right hand! What is your stand on this?

As far as I know, left handed persons are always near to best or best. What is your stand on this?
